Whereas, Tania M. McCarthy filed a claim in the Equal Rights Division of the State of Wisconsin and the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission of the United States seeking damages for alleged instances of discrimination as an applicant to the City of Milwaukee; and
Whereas, The title of that case is Tania M. McCarthy v. City of Milwaukee, ERD Case No. CR201301500, EEOC Case No. 28G201301005C; and
Whereas, The City of Milwaukee carries potential liability for alleged instances of discrimination against Tania M. McCarthy as an applicant to the City of Milwaukee; and
Whereas, The City Attorney recommends and the Common Council of the City of Milwaukee deems it is expeditious and just to settle this claim; now, therefore, be it
Resolved, By the Common Council of the City of Milwaukee that the proper City officers are directed to issue a City check in the amount of $16,500, payable to Tania M. McCarthy, and to document payment with a 1099 form, upon receipt of a release of claims, approved as to form and execution by the City Attorney, and that these funds shall be charged to the Damages and Claims Fund, Account No. 0001-1490-S118-006300.
