Resolution supporting the Home Matters movement.
Analysis
This resolution expresses the City's support of the Home Matters movement and its desire to become a member of the Home Matters movement coalition.  
Body
Whereas, Home Matters is a movement with a mission to build awareness and raise funds for more affordable homes and better communities across the nation; and
 
Whereas, Home Matters is a coalition of over 250 organizations including corporations, government agencies and nonprofits working together to make the new American dream of affordable housing, access to education, healthcare, public spaces and community services a reality for all; and
 
Whereas, More than a half a million people in the United States are homeless, a quarter of whom are children; and
 
Whereas, Fifty-two percent of all American adults have had to make at least one sacrifice in order to pay their rent or mortgage; and
 
Whereas, Over the next 10 years, the Home Matters movement will strive to address the nation's housing crisis by decreasing homelessness, increasing affordable rent, improving homeownership sustainability, and increasing the quality of housing and communities; and
 
Whereas, The mission of Home Matters is consistent with Mayor Barrett's and the Common Council's Strong Neighborhoods Plan in that it supports housing and economic development by increasing home ownership, affordable housing, and economic opportunities for residents; now, therefore, be it
 
Resolved, By the Common Council of the City of Milwaukee, that the City supports the Home Matters movement
