Analysis
This resolution directs the Commissioner of Public Works to execute an amendment to an agreement with the Wisconsin Department of Transportation for the development, implementation and funding of traffic control and other safety measures necessary to mitigate traffic diversion on City streets due to construction activity on the Zoo Interchange Project in 2014. The traffic control and other safety measures apply to facilities for motor vehicles, pedestrians and bicycles. The increased cost of the amendment is $60,000 of which 100% is grantor funded.

Whereas, The Wisconsin Department of Transportation (WisDOT) will continue Reconstructing the Zoo Interchange area between Lincoln Avenue on the south, west of Underwood Parkway on the west, Burleigh St. on the north and 70th Street on the east in 2014; and

Whereas, Construction activity on the Zoo Interchange is expected to result in the diversion of traffic on the local street system during this project due to lane and ramp closures on the freeway; and

Whereas, Unanticipated, additional traffic mitigation measures were required in 2013 and 2014 which expended all funds established in the original traffic mitigation agreement authorized in file 121220; and

Whereas, Preliminary approval has been received from the WisDOT, along with an Amendment to the Project Agreement to be executed by the City of Milwaukee, to provide reimbursement of actual costs for necessary services and items provided by the ci...
