Analysis
This resolution authorizes settlement of litigation pending in the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Wisconsin, Art Ketchman, et al v. City of Milwaukee, et al, United States District Court Case Number 05-C-558, and Gregory Baur, et al v. City of Milwaukee, et al, United States District Court Case Number 05-C-1133, and all related claims by the plaintiffs in those actions in the amount of Five Hundred Fifty Thousand and no/100 Dollars ($550,000) for all damages of any nature, including compensatory and punitive damages, back pay, front pay, pension loss or other economic damages, attorneys fees and costs, and any other claim for damages that could be brought concerning the subject matter of the litigation.

Whereas, Art Ketchman, Dick Boncel, Ron Rebernick, Scott Schaefer, Bill Joers, Ernie Meress, Gregory Baur, Fredric R. Madsen, Thomas H. Welch, Robert G. Stetler and John M. Pipal, (hereinafter referred to as “Plaintiffs”), filed the above captioned lawsuits, now consolidated, claiming discrimination based upon race and gender in connection with their failure to be promoted to the rank of Captain of Police, and other claims in violation of the Fourteenth Amendment to the United States Constitution; and

Whereas, The parties have agreed to settle these lawsuits in the amount of Five Hundred Fifty Thousand and no/100 Dollars ($550,000), for all damages, wage loss, front pay, pension loss or other benefits, attorney fees, costs, compensatory damages, punitive damages and any other claims for damages of any nature that could have been brought, as set for the in the attached proposed Settlement Agreements and General Releases; now, therefore, be it
