This resolution implements the City of Milwaukee Election Commission’s Adopt-a-Site program, whereby persons affiliated with certain charitable organizations may fully staff polling sites during each election and assign their compensation to the affiliate charitable organizations.
Body
Whereas, Section 7.03, Wis. Stats., holds that daily compensation shall be paid to each inspector, voting machine custodian, automatic tabulating equipment technician, member of a board of canvassers, messenger and tabulator who is employed in performing elections duties; and

Whereas, Many cities throughout the country have implemented adopt-a-site programs whereby persons affiliated with certain charitable organizations fully staff polling sites during each election and assign their compensation to the affiliated charitable organizations; and

Whereas, These programs increase civic participation, attract new poll workers and provide support to charitable organizations; and

Whereas, It is in the City of Milwaukee’s best interest for the Election Commission to implement an Adopt-a-Site program; now, therefore, be it

Resolved, By the Common Council of the City of Milwaukee, that the Election Commission is directed to implement an Adopt-a-Site program, whereby persons affiliated with certain charitable organizations fully staff polling sites during each election and assign their compensation to the affiliated charitable organizations; and, be it

Further Resolved, That for a charitable organization to qualify for the Adopt-a-Site program, it must be a charitable org...
