Title
Substitute resolution implementing provisions of the 2014 budget regarding a deconstruction and asset recovery program.
Analysis
This resolution effectuates the intent of an amendment to the 2014 Adopted Budget by directing the Commissioner of Neighborhood Services to use up to $300,000 of $1,319,000 provided in the Razing and Vacant Building Protection Special Fund for a deconstruction and asset recovery program.
Body
Whereas, Some properties acquired by the City for demolition have assets which retain value and could be recycled, reused or sold rather than put into the waste stream; and
Whereas, Deconstruction and asset recovery in lieu of traditional demolition can leverage the value of these assets; and
Whereas, An amendment to the 2014 Adopted Budget directed the Department Neighborhood Services to use up to $300,000 of $1,319,000 in the Razing and Vacant Building Protection Special Fund for deconstruction and building protection activities; and
Whereas, Adoption of appropriate legislation is necessary to effectuate the intent of the amendment; now, therefore, be it
Resolved, By the Common Council of the City of Milwaukee, that the Commissioner of Neighborhood Services is directed to use up to $300,000 from the Razing and Vacant Building Protection Special Fund (0001-3600-R366-006300) in 2014 for a deconstruction and asset recovery program.
