Analysis
This resolution authorizes the Department of Administration - Office of Environmental Sustainability to apply for a grant from the Helen Bader Foundation.  The purpose of this grant is to expand the Office of Environmental Sustainability's work in creating new market opportunities for green jobs, in partnership with members of the City's workforce development infrastructure.
 
Body
Whereas, The Helen Bader Foundation, Inc., a local philanthropic foundation, considers local economic development to be one of its primary missions and funds worthy endeavors to train low-income adults in industry-specific occupations; and
 
Whereas, The Helen Bader Foundation, Inc., has written a letter in support of the Office of  Environmental Sustainability's ME2 program and stated that the foundation would consider granting financial support to the Office of Environmental Sustainability to facilitate and coordinate workforce development outcomes of the ME2 program; and
 
Whereas, The Office of Environmental Sustainability is not property tax-funded and is reliant on grants to pursue its mission of promoting green job creation, energy efficiency, sustainable business practices, renewable energy, and waste and pollution reduction; now, therefore, be it
 
Resolved, By the Common Council of the City of Milwaukee, that the Department of Administration - Office of Environmental Sustainability is authorized to apply for a grant from the Helen Bader Foundation, Inc., to expand its work in creating new market opportunities for green jobs.
