Resolution establishing a City Network and Internet Acceptable Use policy for information resources connected to the City Network.
Analysis
This resolution establishes a City Network and Internet Acceptable Use policy. Through this policy the City will establish minimum appropriate and acceptable requirements regarding the use of information resources connected to the City Network.
Body
Whereas, The City Information Management Committee is responsible for policy and management of the City’s information resources; and
Whereas, The City is committed to complying with applicable state law and other rules and regulations regarding the management of information resources; and
Whereas, Educating individuals who may use information resources with respect to their responsibilities associated with computer resource use will help insure compliance with security standards and procedures; and
Whereas, Establishing a process to ensure that users acknowledge and agree to abide by the rules of behavior before gaining access to information resources connected to the City Network is essential to maintaining security of City IT systems; and
Whereas, The scope of this policy includes all use of the City Network and the Internet; and
Whereas, The City Information Management Committee has prepared a City Network and Internet Acceptable Use policy, which was approved by the committee; and
Whereas, Through this policy, the City will establish the rules and conditions for use of the City Network and the Internet; now, therefore, be it
Resolved, By the Common Council of the City of Milwaukee, that a City Network and Internet Acceptable Use policy, a copy of which is attached to this file, is adopted as City policy.
