Analysis
This resolution renames the Milwaukee Fire Department Administration Building, located at 711 West Wells Street in the 4th Aldermanic District, as Alonzo Robinson Milwaukee Fire Department Administration Building.

Body
Whereas, Alonzo Robinson was the first registered Black architect in Milwaukee and in Wisconsin and served as a true inspiration and trailblazer in his field as he overcame adversity to open doors for future Black architects in the city and state; and

Whereas, Mr. Robinson grew up with dreams of building better housing at a time when there were no other Black architects, which provided him with the drive and motivation to be the first to do it; and

Whereas, In addition to designing the Milwaukee Fire Department Administration Building, located at 7l11 West Wells Street in the 4th Aldermanic District, Mr. Robinson built inner-city churches, the North Side YWCA, the Doyne Park shelter house, the Central City Development Corporation complex, and a new sixth-floor courtroom in the Courthouse; and

Whereas, Mr. Robinson accredited his success to constantly working to prove himself as the first Black architect in the state; and

Whereas, It is important to recognize the success stories of people like Mr. Robinson, who has shown that with hard work and dedication, any dream is truly possible; now, therefore, be it

Resolved, By the Common Council of the City of Milwaukee, that the Common Council approves the renaming of the Milwaukee Fire Department Administration Building, located at 711 West Wells Street, as Alonzo Robinson Milwaukee Fire Department Administration Building; and, be it
