Title
Resolution relating to the application and acceptance of an outdoor recreation grant for Modrzejewski Playfield, from the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources Knowles-Nelson Stewardship Local Assistance Program, and authorizing a sub-grant to Milwaukee Public Schools, Department of Recreation and Community Services.

Analysis
This resolution authorizes the Department of Public Works to apply for and accept a State of Wisconsin outdoor recreation grant to make improvements to Modrzejewski Playfield, located at 1020 W. Cleveland Avenue.

Body
Whereas, The City of Milwaukee may be eligible to apply for outdoor recreation grant funds from the State of Wisconsin, Department of Natural Resources for improvements to Modrzejewski Playfield located at 1020 W. Cleveland Avenue; and

Whereas, City involvement in this grant may result in benefits to the City which include:

1. Helping Milwaukee Public Schools - Department of Recreation and Community Services meet the goals of its Outdoor Recreation Facilities Master Plan (2015).

2. Ensuring equitable development of Milwaukee playfields.

3. Ensuring that recreational facilities and programs are designed to meet the special needs of all residents regardless of age, gender or ability.

4. Providing residents with an opportunity to engage in recreational activities and access to safe and reliable recreational equipment.

5. Reducing storm water run-off which enters the combined sewer system leading to healthier waters.

Whereas, This grant-funded project would cost $2,984,950, of which $1,492,475 (50%) would be provided by the grantor and sub-granted by the City of Milwaukee to Milwaukee Public Schools - Department of Recreation and Community Services, and $1,492,475 (50%) would be provided by the Milwaukee Public Schools - Department of Recreation and Community Services; and
