Substitute resolution relative to various legislative bills.

Whereas, The Judiciary and Legislation Committee of the Common Council has recommended the following positions on the bills hereinafter listed and the Common Council being advised of said matter; now, therefore, be it

 

Resolved, That it hereby opposes the following legislative bills and hereby instructs the Division of  Intergovernmental Relations to appear before the proper committees in opposition to said bills and use its best endeavors in opposition to the same viz:

 

---SB-145/AB-215 Determining the value of billboards for personal property tax purposes.

 

---AB-145  Legislative review of municipal ward, supervisory district, aldermanic district, and certain school district election district plans.

 

--- Data collection related to primary enforcement of seat belt laws.  The committee supports data collection, but not as currently drafted related to racial profiling.

 

Resolved, That the Common Council of the City of Milwaukee hereby instructs the Division of Intergovernmental Relations to support the following:

 

---Primary enforcement of seat belt laws.

 

---Elimination of the Department of Transportation issuance of decals to indicate a vehicle’s period of registration.
