Analysis

This resolution appropriates $5,000 from the Economic Development Committee Fund Special Purpose Account to fund City staff participation in the 2009 Spring Convention of the International Council of Shopping Centers in Las Vegas to facilitate neighborhood and retail development in the City of Milwaukee.

Body

Whereas, The Economic Development Committee Fund is to be used to promote the City of Milwaukee’s (“City”) economic development programs and attracting new industry to the City; and

Whereas, The 2009 International Council of Shopping Centers Spring Convention will be held in Las Vegas, Nevada, on May 17th through May 20th; and

Whereas, There will be 2 City staff attending the International Convention; and

Whereas, Contacts made at these conventions may lead to future retail projects in the City; and

Whereas, The current U.S. economy has impacted the retail industry and City staff attending the conference will evaluate the effects it may have on the City both currently and in the future; and

Whereas, The appropriation of $5,000 for attendance and associated costs at the International Spring Convention will be beneficial to the City; now, therefore, be it

Resolved, By the Common Council of the City of Milwaukee, that $5,000 is appropriated from the 2009 Economic Development Committee Fund Special Purpose Account, 0001-1310-S123-006300 to a separate Budget Line Account No. 0001-1910-S123-006300 for attendance at the 2009 International Council of Shopping Centers Conference in Las Vegas for the purposes outlined herein.
