Resolution authorizing the Commissioner of Public Works to execute an Agreement between the City of Milwaukee and Milwaukee County for the maintenance of bioswales in the medians of West Mill Road (CTH S) between North 49th Street and North 89th Street, in the 2nd and 9th Aldermanic Districts.

This resolution authorizes the Commissioner of Public Works to execute a document titled an Agreement for Maintenance or other Roadside Landscaping within Milwaukee County Trunk Highway (CTH) Right of Way - Agreement No. 2018S1 between the City of Milwaukee and Milwaukee County for the maintenance of sixteen bioswales. The bioswales are located in the medians of West Mill Road between North 49th Street and North 89th Street.

Whereas, Stormwater pollution control is an important component of the City of Milwaukee’s (City) storm water management regulations and the City’s stormwater permit with the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources (DNR); and
Whereas, Nonpoint sources such as roadways have been recognized as the primary source of environmental pollution by discharging polluted runoff directly into the local streams and water bodies, threatening natural habitat and species; and
Whereas, The City proposes to construct sixteen bioswales in the medians of West Mill Road (CTH S) between North 49th Street and North 89th Street, which is under the jurisdiction of the Milwaukee County (County); and
Whereas, In order to establish the terms and conditions for the maintenance and ownership of the bioswales, the City and the County desire to enter into an Agreement, attached, hereto; and
Whereas, The County has prepared the titled an Agreement for Maintenance or other Roadside Landscaping within Milwaukee County Trunk Highway (CTH) Right of Way - Agreement No 2018S1; and
