Title
Resolution authorizing the Commissioner of Public Works and the City Comptroller to execute a contract for professional services associated with the Underwater Dive Inspection for City Bridges.
Analysis
This resolution provides for the execution of a contract for professional services associated with the Underwater Dive Inspection for City Bridges. A contract will be awarded to the contractor which best meets the needs of the Infrastructure Services Division as specified and determined by the Commissioner of Public Works.
Body
Whereas, The Common Council of the City of Milwaukee through adoption of Common Council Resolution Number 070944 authorized funds estimated at $125,00 for underwater dive inspection at various locations; and
Whereas, It is a Federal Highway Administration (FHWA) mandate that all bridge foundations, including those foundations underwater, be inspected on a maximum five-year interval, which were last performed in 2003; and
Whereas, The inspection program is scheduled to be completed in 2008; and
Whereas, It is deemed desirable to engage the services of a consultant to assist the City of Milwaukee by performing underwater dive inspections for twenty-nine (29) City of Milwaukee bridges; and
Whereas, The consultant is capable, experienced and qualified to undertake and perform these services as an independent contract; now; therefore, be it
Resolved, By the Common Council of the City of Milwaukee, that the Commissioner of Public Works and the City Comptroller are authorized to execute a contract for professional services associated with the Underwater Dive Inspection for City Bridges, a draft copy of which is attached to Common Council File Number 071591 and referenced herein; and, be it
Further Resolved, That minor changes to the contract which do not change its intent are hereby approved.
