Substitute resolution authorizing the City Engineer to apply for seven (7) Transportation Enhancement grants.
Analysis
The Wisconsin Department of Transportation is soliciting applications for funding under the Transportation Enhancements Program. Successful grant applications will be funded 80 percent by the grant program. The Department of Public Works intends to submit seven applications.

Whereas, Wisconsin Department of Transportation is soliciting applications for funding under the Transportation Enhancements Program; and
Whereas, The Transportation Enhancements Program funds projects that generally involve bicycle and pedestrian facilities, the restoration of historic transportation structures, streetscaping and landscaping projects; and
Whereas, The Department of Public Works intends to submit seven applications for the following projects:
1. Short Term Bike Rental Program
2. Open metal Bridge Grate Improvements
3. North 27th Street Streetscape
4. West Vliet Street Streetscape
5. Pedestrian Countdown Times at 54 north side locations
6. Pedestrian Countdown Times at 48 central locations
7. Menomonee Valley Wetland Improvements
; now, therefore, be it
Resolved, By the Common Council of the City of Milwaukee that the City Engineer is authorized to submit applications for the Transportation Enhancements Program for the following projects:
1. Short Term Bike Rental Program, estimated cost $50,000
2. Open metal Bridge Grate Improvements, estimated cost $700,000
3. North 27th Street Streetscape, estimated cost $747,500
4. West Vliet Street Streetscape, estimated cost $420,000
5. Pedestrian Countdown Times, at 54 north side locations, estimated cost $697,000
6. Pedestrian Countdown Times at 48 central locations, estimated cost $611,200
7. Menomonee Valley Wetland Improvements, estimated cost $200,000
Total Estimated Cost: $3,426,300
