Resolution relative to application, acceptance and funding of an Edward Byrne Memorial Justice Assistance Grant.

Body:

Whereas, Under the terms of CFDA #16.738, the City of Milwaukee appears to be eligible for grant fund from the U.S. Department of Justice, Bureau of Justice Assistance, for an Edward Byrne Memorial Justice Assistance Grant; and

Whereas, The purpose of this grant is to purchase mobile data computers for squad cars; and

Whereas, The operation of this grant program from January 1, 2008 through September 30, 2011 would cost $614,141, of which 100% would be provided by the grantor; now, therefore, be it

Resolved, By the Common Council of the City of Milwaukee, that the Police Department shall accept this grant without further approval unless the terms of the grant change as indicated in Section 304-81, Milwaukee Code of Ordinances; and, be it

Further Resolved, That the City Comptroller is authorized to:

1. Commit funds within the Project/Grant Parent of the 2008 Special Revenue-Grant and Aid Projects, the following amount for the program titled: Edward Byrne Memorial Justice Assistance Grant:

2. Create the necessary Grant and Aid Project/Grant and Project/Grant levels; budget against these Project/Grant values the amount required under the grant agreement;

1. Expend from the amount budgeted for specified purposes as indicated in the grant budget and incur costs consistent with the award date;
