Title
Substitute motion approving the name change of the CEO Leadership Academy to the Milwaukee Collegiate Academy.
Analysis
This motion approves the name change of the CEO Leadership Academy to the Milwaukee Collegiate Academy, as recommended by the Charter School Review Committee.
Body
Whereas, On July 27, 2010, the Common Council adopted File Number 100282, authorizing the CEO Leadership Academy to operate a Milwaukee Common Council charter school beginning with the 2011-2012 school year; and
Whereas, The CEO Leadership Academy provides academically-challenging, college preparatory education to students grades 9-12; and
Whereas, The board of the CEO Leadership Academy wishes to change the name of the school to the Milwaukee Collegiate Academy, which it considers better reflects the school's mission to prepare students for college; and
Whereas, The board of the CEO Leadership Academy has requested the name change; and
Whereas, The Charter School Review Committee, at its November 6, 2013, meeting, recommended that the Common Council approve the request to change the name of the CEO Leadership Academy; now, therefore,
It is moved, By the Common Council of the City of Milwaukee, that the Common Council approves the Charter School Review Committee's recommendation to change the name of the CEO Leadership Academy to the Milwaukee Collegiate Academy; and
It is further moved, That the proper City officials are directed to execute the charter school contract amendments substantially in the form attached to this file, with such revisions as may be required by the City Attorney.
