Title

Analysis
This resolution authorizes the Department of Public Works to accept 6 swings, one bench swing, 2-3 tire swings, a trapeze swing and a trash receptacle. This equipment has been installed by the donor, Keith Hayes, founder of beintween.org, at the donor’s expense, for use in the Marsupial Bridge Media Garden, at the Water Street terminus of the Marsupial Bridge, a pedestrian bridge over the Milwaukee River suspended beneath the Holton Street Bridge.

Whereas, Section 304-24 of the Code of Ordinances regulates the receipt, appropriation and expenditure of contributions received by the City; and

Whereas, Keith Hayes, founder of beintween.org, wishes to donate to the City 6 swings, one bench swing, 2-3 tire swings, a trapeze swing and a trash receptacle; and

Whereas, Keith Hayes has installed the donated park equipment in the Marsupial Bridge Media Garden at the Water Street terminus of the Marsupial Bridge, a pedestrian bridge over the Milwaukee River suspended beneath the Holton Street Bridge, solely at the donor’s expense; and

Whereas, Keith Hayes, as founder of beintween.org, is a strong advocate of recycling discarded automobile tires and reclaiming the industrial rail corridor near the Brady Street community, and has used creative and innovative techniques to construct this donated equipment mainly using recycled automobile tires and bicycle inner tubes, re-purposed lumber, secondhand steel and other discarded items, and suspended these swings with donated vinyl-wrapped, braided steel cable and rope; and

Whereas, The installation of recreational equipment constructed mainly of recycled materials in the Marsupial Bridge Media Garden is in keeping with the prevailing artistic, social and environmental sentiment of the surrounding neighborho...
