Analysis

This resolution affirms the Historic Preservation Commission’s action denying a certificate of appropriateness for the demolition of the structure located at 2841 W. Richardson Place.

Body

Whereas, On April 24, 2008, Neighborhood House appealed the denial of the Historic Preservation Commission’s (HPC) decision to not permit it to raze the house located at 2841 W. Richardson Place; and

 

Whereas, The Zoning, Neighborhoods and Development Committee held three hearings related to the appeal of Neighborhood House of the HPC’s denial; and,

 

Whereas, At the January 13, 2009 meeting testimony was taken from 12 residents of the area who opposed the demolition of the structure at 2841 W. Richardson Place based upon its historical significance; and

 

Whereas, By a unanimous vote of 5-0, the Committee affirmed the decision of the HPC to not permit demolition of the building; now, therefore, be it

 

Resolved, By the Common Council of the City of Milwaukee, that the decision of the Historic Preservation Commission denying the certificate of appropriateness for demolition of the structure at 2841 W. Richardson Place is affirmed.
